Emerald Fox is a small kennel in the Piedmont region of South Carolina specializing in a very few outstanding quality Parson Russell Terriers. We accept nothing less than a complete terrier which is one of genetic soundness, with the temperament to be a household pet, the presence, structure and movement to be an AKC champion and the hunting instinct to work quarry underground as these terriers were bred to do more than a century ago. We subscribe to the theory and practice that a show dog must work and a working dog must show. But at the end of the day we live with our terriers as members of the family. We demand the same of any terrier we breed to and any terrier we add into our kennel.

We are members of the The Parson Russell Terrier Association of America the AKC breed club for the Parson Russell Terrier and the Greenville Kennel Club a South Carolina AKC all-breed kennel club. We support the AKC breed standard for conformation and the English standard for earthwork, proving that a beautiful and correct package and a working terrier can be the same. Our breeding stock is BAER tested for normal hearing and annually CERF tested clear. We breed very selectively and rigorously interview all potential buyers. Our terriers are guaranteed healthy of mind and body.

In the fall, 2009, the University of Missouri announced a DNA PLL test for our breed and many other breeds. We are in the process of testing all of our terriers for Primary Lens Luxation, a painful genetic eye disease. You can find the result of our terriers' PLL DNA tests by clicking here. You can verify the results for all of our terriers that reside in the U.S. by looking them up by registered name in the PLL database on the OFA website at www.offa.org. Those terriers that belong to owners outside of the US were tested by the Animal Health Trust in England.

A terrier can test normal/clear (has 2 normal genes), or be a carrier yet not develop the disease (has one normal gene and one mutated gene) or can test affected (have two mutated genes and will develop the disease at sometime in the future. A terrier that has two clear parents is clear by parentage and does not need to be tested.
