CH Childs Plays LillieBobs Gal is affectionately known as Elbie. She was our first "show dog" and a better tempered Parson Russell/Jack Russell Terrier you won't find anywhere. Elbie was a gift from her breeder, Kelly Meeks-Childs, and what a gift she was. Elbie is happy, laid back and obedient in the house and is the perfect "house pet." But don't let her all sweetness and smiles fool you because when you cut her off leash in the hunt field she is pure business and exhibits the drive to work that the Rev. John Russell demanded in his own terriers. Eblie earned her working certificate to groundhog in August 2001, proving that it is flexibility, chest size and desire that determines the quality of a working terrier. She has a keen nose and lots of sense in the ground as a baying terrier. Her daughter, Lucky Charm, accompanied mom in the hunt field and wanted to be right in there with her dam. Elbie loves to be the center of attention and as such, showing is a game that she thrives on. You'll never see her tail anywhere but up in the show ring. The harder the judge looks at her, the more she stands on her toes with that "the world is mine and aren't I beautiful" look about her. She is truly a joy to own, to live with, to show and to hunt. Elbie was owner handled from the first day her feet hit the show ring. Her championship includes 30 AKC awards, not including open trials and matches; 3 Reserve Winners, 4 Winners, 3 Best of Winners, 5 BOS, and 1 BOB in only 2 1/2 months. In July, 2000 she was listed as one of the "top 10" bitches in the nation for breed. In open trials, Elbie has been Best and Reserve Bitch pup, Puppy Champion and Reserve and as an adult, almost always wins her classes. She has proven herself in the AKC show ring and against some of the best JRTCA terriers indeed showing that a quality terrier can and should be successful in both venues.
Elbie's first litter was sired by AKC CH Beano of Ravenswood, a Bronze Medallion terrier and multiple times champion and producer of both AKC champions and JRTCA Bronze Medallion terriers. In October 2000, she presented us with 6 gorgeous pups all with their sire and dam's outgoing attitude and quality conformation. Out of that litter we kept Elcee (Emerald Fox Lucky Charm) and Kirby (Emerald Fox Kirby) and Kelly Meeks-Childs took a handsome black and white male Emerald Fox O'Keary CP. Keary is now in the JRTCA siring litters, winning in the show ring and hunting. Elcee remains here at Emerald Fox and is carrying on her her dam's contribution as one of the great produders. Elbie's second litter was sired by Chestnut Ridge Lancer, a 12 1/4", very lightly broken, tri color working bred dog. Lancer is the grandson of Falling Branch David, Falling Branch Ella and Beano of Ravenswood, all Bronze Medallion working terriers. This cross combined the working bloodlines of Ravenswood and Falling Branch. One of the males in that litter, CH Emerald Fox Legend, finished his AKC championship before a year of age. One of the bitches went to Raveswood and has produced for that kennel. Elbie's thrid litter was sire by AKC & UKC CH Von Henry's Fuzzy Face Boy, a CH Ravenswood EFB Brisco (a Beano of Ravenswood son) for a February 2004 litter. "Fuzzy" is out of CH Calset Blitz, a Dodger of Foxwarren bred bitch. Fuzzy stands barely 12.75" and has all the head and bone anyone could possibly want in a dog along with an incredibly small chest and loads of angles both front and back. The combination of the winning and working Ravenswood and Foxwarren blood meshed beautifully with Elbie's winning and working pedigree. Elbie's pups, 3 girls and 2 boys, were whelped February 16th and are unbelievably outstanding with angles and attitude to spare. One of the bitches, Sophie (Emerald Fox Face The Music) has remained at Emerald Fox to begin her show, hunting and breeding career. Elbie was diagnosed with a malignant mammary tumor and so after removing the tumor we decided to spay her for the sake of her health and longevity. But before we could set up the spay appointment it became obvious that Elbie had taken things into her own paw and decided to give us one last litter. It seems Elbie chose her grandson Tucker for her last husband. Tucker's dam is Elbie's daughter Elcee and and his sire is CH Posey Canyon Storm Watch. She gave us her usual 6 pups on January 19, 2006, but this time she presented us with FIVE tan and white girls and one tri colored male. Two of the girls are co-owned by us, CH Emerald Fox Mardi Gras (finished her AKC championship at 9 months of age) and Emerald Fox Captive Heart (Joesy) just now mature enough to being to show but going WB/BW/BOS her first time in the rign with co-owner Jennie Ledbetter. Both of these girls are so much Elbie's type, color and temperament. CH Childs Play LillieBobs Gal has been everything plus more that any breeder could possibly want. She has exceeded our expectations of what any one terrier can possible do in the show ring, the hunt field and in the whelping box. She founded our kennel of Parson Russells and filled it with outstanding quality in every way. Her daughters are following in mom's paw prints by producing outstanding quality offspring. Elbie isn't just the stuff that dreams are made of. She has given us more than we could have dared to dream. |
